Berwick minor football round-up

Posted by The Journal on Nov 11, 09 02:09 PM in Sport

Berwick United edged out cup hosts Cramlington Blue Star in the Northumberland FA Minor Cup second round, winning 2-1, but the Star were unfortunate.

They had Jonathan Wardle on target, but after Mike Robinson opened Berwick's account the Borderers were presented with an own-goal winner.

Other Berwick sides fared less well, as Morpeth Sporting Club won 7-1 at Berwick Town and Whitley Bay Town recorded a 3-1 victory against visitors Springhill Berwick.

Meanwhile, Lowick United moved up to second in Division One of the Sportsworld North Northumberland League as they came from behind to take the points at Ashington Athletic.

John McAlpine and Paul Keys had given them the lead but Anthony Murray, Carl Avery and Andy Burgon were all on target for Lowick.

We'd like to hear from you.
