Scrap metal thieves have stolen the remains of a disposed bomb.
The bizarre theft happened sometime between 5pm on Thursday, July 16, and 8am the following morning, in Berwick, Northumberland.
The thieves drove a large van onto the bomb disposal site, Goswick Beach, and dumped a pile of wood at the site before loading their vehicle with scrap metal. Their haul included a large anchor and the casing from a disposed bomb.
Energy giant E.ON was rapped by watchdogs over misleading adverts for a windfarm planned for the region.
The Advertising Standards Authority upheld two complaints against E.ON Climate and Renewables UK relating to promotional material for its West Ancroft scheme near Berwick.

Colin Wakeling, who lives near the site, made the complaints - the first being E.ON used images of turbines in its press adverts that were around half the height of the eight proposed.

Market towns in the region are being hit harder by the recession than anywhere else, new research suggests.
A study carried out by the Government's Commission for Rural Communities (CRC) suggests that unemployment has risen by a third more in market towns than in other areas.

A report by the rural watchdog, which draws on research by Action for Market Towns, the Centre for Local Economic Strategies and the Rural Evidence Research Unit at Birkbeck, University of London, suggests that the number of vacant shop units in market towns is also increasing.
Residents, businesses and organisations across Northumberland are being asked to have their say on a major review which will shape future car parking policy in the county.
County council bosses are undertaking the review in a bid to devise suitable management arrangements for all of the car parks that it owns or manages.
The exercise will also help county councillors decide whether to leave car parking free in Blyth Valley and Wansbeck, or introduce charges similar to those currently facing motorists in towns such as Berwick, Alnwick, Hexham and Morpeth.

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service is seeking to build new community stations at Alnwick and Berwick, lodging outline planning applications for both last month.
Now the service has applied for planning permission for temporary fire stations in both towns while the current facilities are demolished and replaced on the same sites.
