Lindisfarne InnA country pub based a stone's throw from the A1 is aiming to grow its business customer market by installing free Wi-Fi.

The Lindisfarne Inn at Beal, near Holy Island, has invested in the technology after increasing numbers of customers asked about internet access.

Manager Gillian Taylor, pictured right, said: "Over the last year we've seen a real increase in the numbers of people coming in with laptops and to attend meetings who have asked if we offer internet access.

"We decided to do something about it and now offer free Wi-Fi to our customers.

"The inn is very popular with business customers. We're easy to find being right next to the A1 and are roughly half way between Newcastle and Edinburgh so we're in an ideal place for people to meet up with clients or colleagues."

The inn, which was formerly the Plough Hotel, was taken over last year by Keith Liddell whose Lindisfarne Inns company also owns the Bamburgh Castle Inn in Seahouses.

He said: "Business is becoming increasingly mobile with more people on the move, working remotely and from home. Business patrons are a growing section of our cliental.

"We are committed to keeping our customers happy and ensuring their needs are met."
