Cowdenbeath end Berwick Rangers' winning streak
Berwick Rangers' revival run of four straight wins under new manager Jimmy Crease came to an end against championship-chasing Cowdenbeath at Central Park.
The victory takes the Blue Brazil to within two points of leaders Stenhousemuir with two games in hand.
Rangers fell behind to a controversial goal on the half-hour mark when John Dempster fired home from l5 yards after the visitors' appeals for offside were ignored.
Stuart Callaghan and Graham Guy were both shown yellow for their protests and Callaghan was later sent off five minutes from the end for a second bookable offence.
Jamie Ewart missed achance to level before the break with a header from a corner which flew wide.
The Borderers, who included 25-year-old centre-back Fraser Forrest, on loan from Alloa, in the squad, stepped up the tempo in the final 20 minutes and top scorer Darren Gribben was unlucky not to level with a fierce strike from l5 yards.
But any hopes Rangers had of clinching a share of the spoils were dashed in the final minute when Marek Tomana headed home number two for Cowdenbeath.
"It is disappointing particularly in view of the circumstances surrounding the opening goal," admitted Crease.
