Berwick council in sticky operation

An operation is to be carried out by Berwick Borough Council to clear chewing gum from streets in the town centre in the town.

It forms part of the ongoing work to keep the area clean and tidy and follows numerous complaints about the volume of discarded gum.

A spokesman said the authority was committed to keeping the area clean and a road-sweeping vehicle is in operation on a daily basis.
