A POLL of people in Berwick on living in England or Scotland has simply proved its dual allegiance, a local councillor said last night.
In a vote carried out for ITV1's Tonight programme, just over 60% call for the town to return to Scotland with just under 40% indicating a desire for it to remain part of England.
The programme's producers claim the count shows Berwick people voting "in their droves" for a return to Scottish rule, but Coun Joseph Peggs has argued the figures are of such narrow margins that they only prove that the town has divided loyalties.
